The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have released the Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 09/2025 for recruitment to Level 1 posts in various Railway Zones across India.

This is one of the largest railway recruitments, offering 22,195 vacancies for candidates who want a stable government job in Indian Railways.

1. About the Recruitment

The recruitment is being conducted by:

Government of India
Ministry of Railways
Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs)

Through this notification, Railways will recruit staff for various Group D / Level 1 posts under the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.

These posts are spread across different railway zones in India and include track maintainers, helpers, assistants, porters, and other technical and non-technical jobs.

3. Vacancy Details

  • Total Vacancies: 22,195
  • Pay Level: Level 1 (7th CPC)
  • Initial Basic Pay: โ‚น18,000 per month

The zone-wise and post-wise vacancy details are provided in Annexure B of the notification .

Note: Vacancies may increase or decrease depending on railway requirements.

4. Post Details

This notification includes various Level 1 posts, such as:

  • Track Maintainer
  • Helper (Electrical, Mechanical, Engineering)
  • Assistant Pointsman
  • Hospital Attendant
  • Porter
  • Workshop Staff
  • Other technical and non-technical posts

All posts fall under Level 1 of 7th CPC.

5. Salary & Pay Scale

6. Eligibility Criteria

(A) Nationality

Candidate must be:

  • Indian citizen, or
  • Citizen of Nepal/Bhutan, or
  • Tibetan refugee (before 01.01.1962), or
  • Person of Indian origin migrated from specified countries

Such candidates must produce Eligibility Certificate from Govt. of India .

(B) Age Limit (as on 01.01.2026)

7. Medical Standards

All candidates must pass Railway Medical Test.

Candidates who had LASIK surgery are not eligible for A2 & A3 posts .

8. Examination Fee

9. Selection Process

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  3. Document Verification (DV)
  4. Medical Examination

There is negative marking:

  5. Upload live photo & signature

Only one RRB zone can be selected.

11. Important Instructions

  • Multiple applications = Disqualification
  • Fake websites beware
  • No change in RRB zone once selected
  • Mobile number & email must be active
  • Aadhaar verification is recommended
