4. Who Can Apply?
To apply for the Forest Guard post, candidates must meet all of the following conditions:
4.1 Citizenship & Residency
- Must be a Citizen of India
- Must be a Permanent Resident of Assam
- Must be registered with a Local Employment Exchange in Assam
4.2 Language
- Candidate must be able to speak Assamese or any other State language fluently.
5. Age Limit (as on 01-01-2026)

8. Medical Standards
Candidates must:
- Be in good physical and mental health
- Must not suffer from serious diseases like heart disease, diabetes, hernia, piles, respiratory issues
- No colour blindness or squint eyes
- Vision should be 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in the other
9. Selection Process
The selection of Forest Guard will be done in six stages:
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Medical Examination
- Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Written Examination
- Walking Test
- Oral/Viva Voce
10. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) – 40 Marks
For Male
- 3200 meters race in 14 minutes
- Long jump minimum 335 cm
For Female
- 1600 meters race in 8 minutes
- Long jump minimum 244 cm
Marks are given based on performance.
11. Written Examination
- 100 multiple-choice questions
- Total marks: 50
- No negative marking
- Class 9–10 level questions

- General Awareness
12. Walking Test
- Male: 26 km in 4 hours
- Female: 16 km in 4 hours
This is only qualifying.
13. Viva Voce
- Maximum 5 marks
- Candidates selected = 2 times the number of vacancies
